Review & Specs of Syma Drones

Syma X5A Review & Specs

Syma X5A

Syma X5A is perfect as the first drone to get your first flight skills. The controls are easy to master, the 6-axis gyroscope provides stability in the air, and the sturdy body can withstand falls well.

The aircraft can be launched indoors, but outside the pilot will have more freedom of action. The main thing is that there is no strong wind - the quadcopter can be demolished by powerful gusts. The operating range of the remote control reaches 100 meters.

There are two speed modes and a 360 degree flip at the touch of a button. The backlight is good. The 300 mAh battery is designed for 6-8 minutes of flight. With screw protectors, the dimensions of X5A are 31.5x31.5x7.5 cm.

This is one of the most affordable Syma drones with a minimal set of functions. Even the camera mount was removed in the X5A, although during training you can do without it.

Below on the beams there are backlight LEDs for safe flights at night. And don't forget to buy four batteries for the remote in advance, as they are not included in the standard package.

Syma X5HW Review & Specs

Syma X5HW

One of the more advanced drones of the fifth series has got an FPV camera and a barometer for keeping altitude, but it loses to the previous models in terms of maneuverability.

In the video stream transmission mode, the flight radius is limited to 30-50 meters. With the camera turned off, Syma X5HW keeps in touch at a distance of up to 100 meters.

The manufacturer has not forgotten about the headless mode, so even a beginner can handle the controls. The drone makes flips with a slight drop in height.

The flying camera captures megapixel photos and allows you to record videos in an amazing 0.3 MP (640x480 pixels) resolution.

If real-time broadcasting is not that important, you should take a closer look at the almost identical X5HC model with a 2-megapixel module and a memory card slot.

Quadcopters fly on a single charge for 5-7 minutes, depending on the mode and weather conditions. Both are afraid of strong wind, the dimensions are also the same - 33x33x11 cm with protectors installed.

Syma X21W Review & Specs

Syma X21w

Syma X21 is more of an indoor option, however, with a slight wind, this baby feels great in an open space. He knows how to hold altitude and received an automatic take-off and landing function, which is useful for beginners.

Headless Mode is also provided, when the direction of movement changes relative to the pilot, and not the orientation of the front of the quadcopter.

This way you can easily return the mini-drone to its starting point after all the pirouettes. The X21 is controlled from a remote control with a range of up to 100 meters (in ideal conditions).

A standard 380 mAh battery lasts for 5-7 minutes of flight.

Our hero has a modification with a Syma X21W camera. It already supports FPV mode for broadcasting video to a smartphone from a distance of up to 25 meters.

If desired, clips can be stored in the memory of a mobile device, just do not expect good quality from a simple module without electronic stabilization.

Another interesting Flight Plan function allows you to set a flight path simply by drawing it in the Syma Go app.

Dimensions with propeller protection - 13.5x13.5x3 cm.

Syma X8 PRO Review & Specs

Syma X8 Pro

Within its family, the bright red Syma X8HG offers the best quality aerial photography out of the box. The serious-looking 8-megapixel GoPro camera also hints at this, although it cannot be used separately from the device.

There is no battery inside the plastic box, and on the case there is only a slot for memory cards and an HD / Full HD quality switch. FPV mode was not delivered.

In comparison with other models of the series, the quadcopter received more powerful G-motors and became more dynamic. The carrying capacity has also increased (from 150 to 200 grams), and the new mount is compatible with extreme camera boxes / bumpers.

The standard one shoots better than other Syma pendant modules, but it has not got rid of old problems: sharp drops in brightness are noticeable, there is no stabilization, and the jelly effect appears due to shaking.

In the absence of interference, the device remains controllable at a distance of up to 200 meters, the battery provides 7-10 minutes of flight.

The rest of the Syma X8HG is similar to the X8HW and X8HC. It also has a barometer and supports Headless Mode.

Syma W1 Review & Specs

Syma W1

This is the brand's first drone to feature long-life brushless motors. The design vaguely resembles the DJI Spark, only the Syma W1 does not have a stabilization gimbal and the dimensions are slightly larger.

The most functional model in the lineup was equipped with GPS and added a gesture control system.

Syma W1 was taught to take off from the palm and land on it. Automatic return to the starting point, movement along a given trajectory and following a person - all this the drone can also do.

The front camera with wide-angle optics can broadcast video via Wi-Fi at a frequency of 5 GHz, and also save videos in Full HD quality on a memory card.

The lower HD module is designed for visual positioning in conditions without a GPS signal. Control from the remote control is carried out at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, the range is up to 200 meters (FPV will have less).

The flight height reaches 70 meters. The drone can stay aloft for 13 minutes. The battery compartment is secured with latches.

Syma Z1 Review & Specs

Syma Z1

The representative of the Z-series has a folding design and does not take up much space. When folded, the dimensions of the Syma Z1 are only 14.5x6.5 cm - like a regular smartphone, although due to the thickness of 3.5 cm, it can be called a pocket copter rather conditionally.

The company did not put the remote control in the box. The Syma Fly mobile application is responsible for everything, in which, in addition to virtual sticks, the gravitational mode of controlling the tilt of the smartphone is implemented. The flight range is limited to 50 meters.

The quad is able to keep height and stay in one position. A special optical sensor scans the area below and detects an unplanned displacement or drift.

The position of the FPV camera is adjustable, you can manually adjust the tilt angle before launching. The picture is quite smooth, there are no sharp jerks even on turns, but low details cannot be corrected by any Instagram filters. As a selfie drone, the Syma Z1 failed.

The ruggedized battery packs are easy to remove and install, and can run for 7 minutes in the air on a single charge. Beginner pilots will benefit from Headless Mode and the automatic take-off / landing function.

History of Syma Quadcopters

Some SYMA Drone, Quadcopter User Manuals PDF above the page.

Guangdong Syma Model Aircraft Industrial Co. was founded in early 2008 in the toy capital of China, Chenghai District, Shantou City.

The history of the Syma brand began with the release of radio-controlled helicopter models, and the first drone was released in 2012. It was light and nimble Syma X1.

In 2014, the manufacturer launched the Syma X5 series of mid-size quadcopters, which became a hit. Then there were larger drones and very miniature vehicles.

In 2018, Skylogic Research conducted a survey of the drone market, according to which Syma became one of the five largest brands with a market share of about 2%.

The company has its own production base, and the R&D team and the design department are responsible for the development of new products.

Syma is not yet trying to take the professional drone segment by storm, focusing on relatively inexpensive entertainment devices.

They stay in the air for a relatively short time (from 5 to 10 minutes), and in order not to waste time on recharging, you can immediately purchase a set with two or more batteries.
